About CJ Carter
Like most artists, I've been drawing, painting, and generally creating stuff since I was a child. In school, I'd do photos, graphics, and illustrations for various publications if asked or needed, and at work I would brush paint or airbrush models and dioramas. Even so, a professional life in the arts still wasn't something I had my eye on. My focus in school and work was with programming cutting-edge satellite systems. Then one spring, while still a university underclassman, a basketball player handed me her camera to take game pictures of her during a college tournament. I haven't really looked back since. I spent many years as a sports photographer before taking a lengthy detour into screenwriting. A change of location and a need to buy extravagances such as food guided me back to the visual arts. I revisited my love of airbrushing, took up a new medium with scratchboard, and just generally expanded my tools, methods, and output (allowing for some breaks due to life's insistence). I've twice spent years working as a manager of art departments, had my work find their place on gallery walls and people's homes, and have tried to share what I've learned along the way when I can.
